Young Reds suffer heavy defeat
Published by fiz on August 10, 2008
Hughie McAuley saw his U-18 Liverpool side suffer a crushing 3-0 defeat in their latest opening game of the Villarreal tournament against Japanese side Kashiwa Reysol.
It didn’t start out well for the young Reds when German Christopher Buchtmann picked up a knee injury on the 10th minutes.
McAuley wasn’t too happy with the performance of his boys and he’s expecting more from the boys in the next game against Real Madrid.
“We made some poor mistakes and I have to say that on the night they were better than us,” McAuley told the offish site.
“We didn’t play as well as we have been doing in pre-season and we didn’t pass the ball like we normally do.
“We created some decent chances but Nathan and Marvin Pourie couldn’t take them and we gave away some poor goals.
“I will be looking for a response from the players when we face Real Madrid tonight. That will be a big test for us.”
