Tottenham’s ace-defender Jonathan Woodgate knows they’ll have to be at their best to stop Liverpool’s goal machine Fernando Torres at White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Torres and Woodgate would go face to face on the final day of the season. Woodgate would have to use all his experience to thwart El Nino.

Woodgate faced Torres for 20 minutes when Torres came on in a friendly game between England and Spain last February.

He said in an interview: “He’s an exceptional player, he’s scored 32 goals and that’s incredible for a first season.

“He’s got everything you want in a centre forward. He’s good in the air, quick, scores goals - a top player.

“There was a lot of pressure on him because he was a local hero at Atletico Madrid but he’s come to Liverpool and there is pressure off him because they have the likes of Gerrard. He’s done superbly.”

Last time they met at Anfield, Torres equalized in the last minute to save Liverpool the blushes. But this time, Liverpool would be going full on to end the season on a high.
