Wage demands complicating Agger deal

Published by fiz on December 3, 2008

Liverpool have failed to reach an agreement on a new contract with Daniel Agger representatives.

According to the Daily Mail, the defender is looking for an £70,000-a-week deal, which is twice of his current wage.

The Dane has just 18 months left remaining on his contract but his efforts to earn a pay-rise may have been rejected.

AC Milan are thought to be monitoring the situation with a possible £7 million bid being touted.

Thats loyalty for ya. LFC pays him money for a year to recover from injuries and he plays 5 matches and demands a 100% wage increase.

How can anyone demand a pay increase, specially during this world wide economy crisis.

To be honest, if we can afford it, then he is worth £70k per week. If we can’t, then he needs to understand.

I don’t believe that footballers, or any human being is worth that much money, but in the current game, by its own standards, Agger is worth that much money.

We cannot afford to let one of our best players go. He should sign another contract at say a 50% increase, for a couple of years, and see what happens in that period…
