Villa star makes Barry plea in attempt to thwart Rafa’s raid
Aston Villa star Nigel Reo-Coker has issued a plea to captain Gareth Barry (pictured) in an attempt to sway his decision in deciding where his future lies.
Barry has been subject to frequent media speculation recently, and Villa manager Martin O’Neill has publicly lambasted Rafael Benitez for his ‘insulting’ £10million bid earlier this month, but it will be the player who decides where he is to ply his trade from next season, and Reo-Coker has recognised this.
“It’s very important for us to keep Gareth, but only Gareth can speak about that and make his own decision. That’s between Gareth and the manager. I haven’t really spoken to Gareth or Martin (O’Neill) about it.” he told Villa’s official club website.
“It’s important for us to keep him, but that’s not my decision, it’s down to Gareth, the manager and the powers that be.” he added.
