Vieira: Gerrard is the best midfielder in the world

Steven Gerrard has been criticized by the English press and fans alike for his poor performances in an England shirt. However, there is one man who tends to disagree, a man who could have had the title himself too.
Inter Milan midfielder, Patrick Vieira has insisted that Gerrard is the best in the world and no-one can rival him, not even Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas. While many have suggested that Gerrard be dropped from the squad for the trip to Belarus, the Inter Milan midfielder thinks the opposite.
“The best midfielder I would say is Steven Gerrard. I really rate him as a player and as a man,” Vieira told Setanta Sports.
“Cesc Fabregas has the potential to be the best. I think he is learning every year. He is one of the best. In the years to come he can be at the top.”
