Under-18’s crawl back from the dead
Liverpool’s Under-18 squad, battled back from 2-0 down to secure a point against fierce rivals Manchester United at Carrington this morning.
Marvin Pourie scored the equalising goal after Nathan Eccleston halved the deficit.
“It was a great game and one we could have won, United are a very good team but we did well against them and we created some wonderful chances. Marvin was twice clean through from two outstanding passes from Astrit in the first half but didn’t take the opportunities. Nathan also missed a great chance. ” told Hugh McAuley.
“Martin Hansen made two wonderful saves as well in the first half, but after the break we didn’t come out of the dressing room for the first 15 minutes and we found ourselves 2-0 down.
“We then showed great determination and kept passing the ball and David Amoo was a constant threat to their defence.
“Nathan pulled a goal back and it was a really smashing goal. Astrit put in the kind of cross that defenders can’t deal with and Nathan finished it superbly.
“Marvin then made it 2-2 with a wonderful volley and we had two or three great chances after that to win the game.
“I am very pleased overall with the lads and we showed a lot of qualities.”
