UEFA to investigate missile throwing incident

Published by Redneck on November 27, 2008

UEFA are to carry out an investigation into the missile throwing incident at Anfield last night as the Reds struggled past Marseille to advance through to the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Captain Steven Gerrard scored the all-important winning goal in a narrow 1-0 win over the well-supported French outfit, but what appears to be a lighter was clearly thrown at the skipper from the travelling supporters.

Unlike some, Gerrard failed to retaliate, leaving the incident in the capable hands of the authorities.

“The incident will be included in both the match delegate’s report and the referee’s report.” said a UEFA spokesman after the game.
