£3million profit on Momo deal

Published by Redneck on January 29, 2008

Mali International Momo Sissoko, pictured in action against Sheffield United, has finally made his switch to Juventus for a fee of £8.2million, giving a near £3million profit on the player who started life so brightly at Anfield.

After arriving from Valencia for a reported £5.3million, on the back of rave reviews comparing him to the great Zinedine Zidane, back in 2005, Momo soon made a name for himself for his determination and willingness for the ball.

Two injury lay-off’s blighted his stay at Anfield, which is possibly the cause of his recent poor performances in a Red shirt.

After dropping down the pecking-order under Rafa’s rule, the 23-year-old decided enough was enough and that the time to move on to pastures new had finally arrived.

“I am happy to have signed for such a big club, this experience is certainly a step forward in my career.

“I am excited at the thought of playing with great champions like (Gianluigi) Buffon and (Alessandro) Del Piero and working again with Claudio Ranieri, a great coach with whom I already worked with at Valencia.” he told the official Juventus website.

Momo will mostly be remembered for his stunning strike against Sunderland earlier in the season, which prompted the fans to bellow “Shoot!” everytime he touched the ball.

Fairwell Momo and good luck.
