As part of the deal that saw Fernando Torres move to Anfield last summer, the Spanish hitman will see his wages increase by a staggering £800,000 per year, but will amazingly only bring him back in-line to what Atletico Madrid were paying him before his move to our shores.

After earning £89,000 per week at Atletico, Torres took a £15,000 per-week pay-cut to complete a switch to Anfield but after his first full season in England, the Spaniard will see his wages return back to what they used to be for the remainder of his contract.

The move could not come at a better time as Chelsea have targeted the sensational striker recently, however Torres has stated that he is more than happy with life on Merseyside and has no intention of leaving the club.

According to The Asian Age, a source close to Torres said “There has been a meeting between Fernando’s people and Liverpool. It was very amicable and set the tone for what should be a straightforward negotiation.”
