Torres’ biggest critic is himself, and Benitez!
Published by SoV on October 13, 2008
Fernando Torres reveals that he is his own biggest critic. But he quickly added that his manager, Rafael Benitez, is as demanding of him.
The striker, who scored 33 goals for Liverpool last season and already has 5 this season, shared how Benitez expects him to do his best whenever he goes onto the pitch.
“I am my own sternest critic, but my manager is just as demanding as I am,” he told the Liverpool Echo.
“Rafa keeps reminding me I still have a long way to go. I’ll score a goal, but he won’t tell me he is happy afterwards – I have him on my back for six hours every day,” said Torres, who played the whole game in Spain’s 3-0 win over Estonia.
“But the fact he paid £26m for me is a huge vote of confidence.”
