Sven will City’s run end?

Speculation mounts over the future of Sven-Goran Eriksson as Man City Manager but can he end a run of 4 straight Anfield defeats for Man City. Their last victory on this ground was 5 years ago when Nicolas Anelka scored an injury time penalty to set up a must win game against Chelsea which we lost.

Since then Liverpool have won the 4 games by just 1 goal. 2-1 in February and August 2004 and 1-0 in the last 2 meetings, (February and November 2006). With anger at owners of both the clubs, it seems that this game has more at stake.

As Hicks and Gilette brawl at Anfield for power and Thaksin Shinawatra, both clubs are united by anger at their foreign owners. It’s very Thaksin and the fans of both clubs and time will tell what will happen.

Liverpool will play their final home game at 4pm (UK time) and it seems likely Daniel Agger will be out. Harry Kewell is hoping to play as is Xabi Alonso. It could be a last Anfield appearance for John Arne Riise who is linked with moves to Villa and Newcastle.

There is also the possiblity that Steve Finnan may play in a final game having seemingly lost out to Alvaro Arbeloa. Man City target Peter Crouch would love to start and get a goal or 2 to boost his transfer price. Whatever happens, the game wont be remembered unelss it is really a game on the pitch and this is due to the negative vibes around both clubs.
