£9million Carson Priced Out of Villa Deal
Scott Carson’s £9million price-tag has prevented Martin O’Neill from making the young Liverpool goalkeeper’s loan move permanent, and instead deciding to opt for a cheaper alternative instead.
Carson learned this through his agent 48 hours before his match against Portsmouth, which prompted the loanee to produce his worst performance of the season when he was at fault for both goals in Villa’s 0-2 loss.
Carson is keen to stay in the Midlands after spending the last year at the club, however he is considered a journeyman goalkeeper as Villa is his fourth club in three years.
He seems unwilling to play second fiddle to first choice Pepe Reina as he fears it will hamper his England career.

No doubt like previous players sold, Carson (if sold) will be sold for much less than the market value. Martin O’Neill has been playing on the sly by looking at Tottenhams situation with Paul Robinson as well as former club Celtics wantaway goalkeeper Artur Boruc. The fact of the matter is that the boy needs first team games and Pepe Reina (apart from this attempts at punching the ball against Manure) has been playing well all season and will be hard to dislodge.
