Saturday Round-Up at Anfield

Well hopefully the constant barrage of news articles being published with regards to Rafa’s ‘uncertain’ future will begin to die-down now as our co-owner Tom Hicks publicly declared that the most popular Spaniard in Liverpool will be keeping his job for at least a further two seasons (2009-10).

“Rafa is under contract for two more seasons following this season. I am solidly behind Rafa and am confident of the team’s competitive prospects under his continuing leadership.” enthused Hicks, who is keen to build bridges with our loved manager.

Meanwhile, Rafa, as per usual, chooses to ignore all talk of off-field activities allowing himself and his team to focus on today’s clash at Anfield against non-league minnows, Havant and Waterlooville.

“We will treat them just the way we do any other team in the Premier League. We will have a drink after the game as always. Everything will be the same as usual. ” said a respectful Benitez.

“I know that Liverpool were knocked out of the FA Cup in 1959 by non-league opposition (Worcester City), so we know it can be done. We will approach the game in the right way and do our best.”

he match itself will instantly wipe-out 100% of Havant’s club debt, bringing in a total of around £800,000, which is in stark contrast to the amounts being thrown around at Anfield with Momo Sissoko leaving us at a cost to Juventus of around £9million, which is apparently being spent on keeping Javier Mascherano at the club on a permanent basis for a fee of £17million.

“We are working on Sissoko’s future, and we are close to a final solution. ” stated Rafa.

“I am confident that Mascherano will stay with us – the money from a transfer for Sissoko can certainly help.

“I must also say thank you to Alex Ferguson for his personal support recently, but I do not have any doubts that we can bring in top players because this is a top club.”, which is a clear indication that talks between manager and owner have taken place with regards to transfer market activities during the summer months.
