Riise completes £4m switch

Reds left-back John Arne Riise agreed a move to Serie A outfit AS Roma in a £4million switch set to be completed at the end of next month.
An official announcement on the Italians website read: “AS Roma announce they have reached an agreement with Liverpool Football Club for the acquisition of the sporting rights of the player John Arne Riise with effect from July 1 2008.”
Norwegian Riise will end his 7-year Anfield career after one of his most disappointing seasons in a red shirt, scoring more in his own goal than the oppositions, but John will fondly be remembered by many a Kopite for his fierce left-footed rockets.
It is sad to see a familiar face leave us, a personal favourite of mine for many seasons, but I think the move has come at the right time for John and LFC alike.
