John Arne Riise is hoping Liverpool will lower down their valuation of £5million to help accelerate his proposed move to AS Roma. The left-back has been linked with a move to Italian club AS Roma and he’s looking forward to move to a club where he can get regular football.

Newcastle are also in the race to sign the Norwegian but AS Roma remain frontrunners for his signature.

“That was nice what was said by the coach (Spalletti), but this is only something I have heard from media reports,” Riise told VG.

“I have only one year of my contract left, so the price is lower than a year ago - 50 million Norwegain Kroner (£5million) seems a little high for me.

“I need to play and need to be in a team where I can become better, because I know I can become better.

“When you change club, you get a kick-start and a set of new challenges.”
