Reserves cruise past Bury
Liverpool Reserves cruised to a 3-1 victory over Bury at the Academy yesterday afternoon, but reserve team boss, Gary Ablett, admitted the frontline were poor after a long spell of no matches.
“It was our first game of 2008 and in all honesty we should have scored 10, our finishing was very poor. I know we haven’t played a game for a month but the finishing needs to be improved.” said the reserves chief.
Ryan Flynn grabbed one of the three goals, one of which was an own-goal and Dani Pacheco (pictured) grabbed his first for Liverpool.
“I was pleased to see Dani score his first goal but he could have had four or five himself.” moaned Ablett.
An impressive start to the season, followed by a shaky finish to the year, has dropped the second-string Reds down to second position in the league, something which Ablett is kean on rectifying immediately.
“We worked so hard in the first part of the season to get to the top of the table and now we need to show we are good enough to lead the way again,”
“The players have worked hard in training and we want them to keep improving and maintain that winning attitude.” he added.
