Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina insists he has ‘no reason’ to leave Anfield for Atletico Madrid.

The Liverpool shot-stopper, who joined the Reds in 2005 from Villarreal, has been linked with a return to Spain at the end of the season.

Reina’s father, Miguel, played in goal for Atletico between 1973 and 1980 and this has added to speculation of a move to the Vicente Calderon.

The Reds star insists he is not looking to leave Merseyside but admits he does have a love of Atletico.

“It (Atletico) is a club that I love,” Jose Reina told AS. “In addition to other things it is for family reasons.

“For me it is flattering to be linked with Atletico. But right now it is not one of my goals to change.

“It is a club which I have a special love for, I cannot deny it. My father played there and I have many friends at Atletico. I have a fondness and Madrid is a great city.

“I like Atletico, but I have a contract with Liverpool and I am very happy at this club. Right now there is no reason for change.”
