Referee Robs Young Reds Of Victory
Published by fiz on August 11, 2008
Liverpool U-18 were denied a deserved win over Real Madrid in the Villarreal tournament, thanks to some poor decisions by the referee.
The Young Reds had a two goal cushion courtesy of Adam Pepper and Lauri Dalla Valle but the Spanish giants managed to come back from two goals down.
McAuley wasn’t too pleased with the decisions and even the opposing manager felt that his team should have won. In all, he’s pleased with performance.
“Some poor decisions went against us I have to say and even the Real Madrid coach apologised to me at the end of the game. Their two goals came from set pieces which should never have been given. They scored with the last kick of the game and then the referee blew up for full-time!”
“Despite the decisions that went against us it was a very pleasing performance and we know we deserved to win the game,” he told the offish site.
