Rafa targets £7million goal-machine
Rafael Benitez is looking to bolster his squad in the summer with a series of transfers, both in and out of Anfield, with John Arne Riise, Dirk Kuyt, Sami Hyypia and Harry Kewell looking like the likely culprits to feel the force of Rafa’s axe.
Contrary to reports, Rafa will be armed with a transfer-kitty during the summer months as a direct result of the deal brokered by our American owners which secures funding, albeit made up of loans primarily from The Royal Bank of Scotland, to complete the takeover and begin development on our new stadium over the way on Stanley Park.
Although nobody can actually put a figure on the summer war-chest, numbers in the region of £45million are being thrown around many news sources, and Rafa has ear-marked £7million of any future funds to prise-away former Arsenal-target, Jose ‘goal-machine’ Sand from Argentinean champions, and current league leaders, Lanus.
Sand, 27, who has scored 15 goals in 16 starts this season, is attracting interest from all corners of Europe including Werder Bremen, Olympiakos, Ateltico Madrid and ambitious Genoa - giving the former Banfield striker an array of options in the summer.

I wish if Liverpool sell the above players and bring the porto winger, R.Kurisma.
These kind of signings are the only criticisms I have of Rafa. Too many times we seem to be after unheard of Spanish or South American players who represent a big gamble to me. Other than the real big names like Torres and Mascherano the success of these players is questionable. Only these 2 would make it into the other top 3’s teams - I don’t believe Alonso is good enough either other then in his first season.
We have experimented with lots of different strikers during Rafa’s reign and I think we need a genuine big name second striker to support Torres and preferably one who has Premiership experience.
I think Anelka would have been ideal. Sand will obviously need a lot of time to settle and is not going to be given a decent run to establish himself as we all know Rafa likes to chop it around a bit. Bellamy may have been a liability but he had the genuine capability of success.
“R. Kurisma” lol, do you perhaps mean Ricardo QUARESMA? I think you do. I actually agree with you. I’d also like to say, regardless of his performance in Argentina, who’s to say that this José Sand can actually adapt to the Premiership’s style of play, especially at 27. That’s too old to be changing your game if you ask me.
