Published by JMitchell on August 8, 2008
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has admitted that Liverpool’s Champions League Victory has made his own job more difficult. Benitez was the man in charge when he and his team ended Liverpool’s 21 year wait for their fifth Champions League trophy.
The Spaniard has admitted that the victory over AC Milan has just raised expectation levels for himself and his Liverpool team. Liverpool haven’t had no domestic success since 1990 and Liverpool fans are eager more than ever for Liverpool to win their 19th league title.
Benitez told The Times ” In some ways it has made things more difficult because the expectations became so high. Then we won the European Super Cup and FA Cup the following season and so suddenly everyone was saying, ‘OK, the next step will be the Premier League Title”.
Benitez will take his Liverpool team to the Stadium of Light on the 16th of August looking to get off to a strong start to take Liverpool to a 19th league title.
