Racing in Reds Double-Swoop

Published by Redneck on January 16, 2008

Racing Santander president Francisco Pernia today confirmed that the club are in talks with the Reds over a double-loan deal involving Sebastian Leto and Nabir El Zhar, who are both looking to gain valuable first-team experience in the hope they can impress Rafa (or whomever our next manager will be) for the start of season 2008/09.

“We have been speaking to Liverpool for some weeks, But the deal is still not closed.” he stated.

With the Reds being reportedly interested in the services of Racing’s Garay, president Pernia declined that he would be used as a makeweight for the double-swoop on Anfield.

“There is interest to buy our player (Garay) from big clubs, But the name of Garay has not entered into this loan negotiation.

“This is clear and Liverpool know our position. If the position is not clear Racing will miss out on El Zhar and Leto because we do not want problems in the future.”

Good news. Both the lads has been outplaying everyone in the Reserves, especially Leto. Regular first team football would be beneficial for both of them.

Leto looked superb in the second CL qualifier leg against Toulouse. I thought he was going to be more prominent than Leiva…

Playing regularly in La Liga will do them both the world of good.
