Preview: Liverpool vs Wigan

Published by fiz on January 2, 2008

Liverpool will have striker Peter Crouch available again for Wednesday’s Premier League match against Wigan at Anfield. Crouch is back after serving a three-match ban for his sending-off at Chelsea, but veteran defender Sami Hyypia is still out, while young protege Daniel Agger is also unlikely to be fit.

That means full-back Alvaro Arbeloa is expected to be used as a stop-gap centre half again alongside Jamie Carragher, with teenager Jack Hobbs unlikely to be risked because of his lack of experience.

Wigan striker Emile Heskey is expected to face former club Liverpool as Latics head to Anfield in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Heskey has been troubled by an ankle injury recently but the England striker returned to training on Monday and should be fit, along with Jason Koumas, who is now back from a groin problem.

Latics boss Steve Bruce has never lost against Rafael Benitez in Premier League combat but Wigan have an appalling record of 20 defeats in 20 games against England’s ‘big four’.

I suppose… it could be tough.. but probably, 3-0 or 4-0…. it depends on who gets the first goal, early on… Thanks for the Preview…

it should be 3 or 4 nil with comparitive ease, but the way we have been performing recently fills me with doubt….

I feel rather embarassed that I thought we were genuinely in the title hunt this season :(

We need to pull back from this now, for Rafa’s sake, we simply cannot lose this manager that we are building a team around - the players rely on the togetherness he has brought to our squad - now we just need a little luck and some BLODDY HARD WORK by our overpaid “stars”.
