Preview: Chelsea vs Liverpool
Liverpool will be looking for revenge from when Rob Styles robbed them of victory in the reverse game earlier in the season. Whilst Chelsea will be looking to build on their 2-0 Mickey Mouse cup win in December.
Liverpool –
Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Sunderland is a boost of confidence ahead of a trip to Chelsea. The bad news is the amount of injuries suffered ahead of a difficult trip to west London. Liverpool will be without six key players, with striker Fernando Torres the biggest blow. The Spaniard has a hamstring injury and will also miss the FA Cup fifth round home tie with Barnsley next weekend. Liverpool are targeting the Champions League tie with Inter Milan on February 19 for his return. Andriy Voronin, Fabio Aurelio, Alvaro Arbeloa and Daniel Agger are all long term injury victims while Xabi Alonso is suspended. Ryan Babel picked up an ankle injury playing for Holland on Wednesday making him a doubt.
Chel$ki –
Chelsea are close to the top of the table, and can’t be ruled out of the title yet, yet with several players returning from injury and the Cup of nations soon, the squad will only get stronger and they will become more difficult to beat. Unbeaten since the trip to the Emirates on December 16th. You would have to say they could turn the tables on the top two.
Squads:
Chelsea: Cech, Cudicini, Hilario, Ferreira, Belletti, Carvalho, Ben-Haim, Alex, A Cole, Bridge, Ivanovic, Lampard, Makelele, Obi, J Cole, Wright-Phillips, Anelka, Pizarro, Malouda, Ballack, Sidwell.
Liverpool: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Skrtel, Riise, Pennant, Mascherano, Gerrard, Babel, Benayoun, Kewell, Lucas, Crouch, Kuyt, Itandje.
Match Prediction:
Unfortunately, Liverpool never have done well here in recent years, and Chelsea get the nod.
Chelsea 2-1 Liverpool
