Poll: Best Defensive Pairing?

Rafael Benitez has a real headache for the forthcoming season.  He has four top-class central defenders in Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and the ever-present Sami Hyypia, but who do YOU think is our best defensive duo?

Jamie Carragher, as every Kopite knows, is quite possibly the best defender in England (at least) and is as dedicated as he was when he first made his debut for the Reds back in early 1997, how could you possibly drop Carra?

Daniel Agger proved his class before his injury setbacks, and glimpses of his former self have already been observed during the pre-season, so another commanding season on the cards for the great Dane?

Martin Skrtel? Who? That’s what we were all saying when Rafa signed the Slovakian brick-wall back in January this year as defensive cover (following Agger’s injuries), but he has gone from strength-to-strength winning many fans along the way for his dedication and his ability to read the ball and is a very strong contender for a regular starting role this season.

A firm Anfield favourite in Sami Hyypia makes dropping the big Finn a difficult decision to make.  His legs are getting tired but his ability to read the game and make decisive tackles is incredible, however, the fact that he blocks people when he knows he’s been beaten could lead to too many uneccesary free-kicks, possibly even penalties.

However, his presence and ability to score goals in going forward for corners is another factor on why you cannot leave Sami out.
