Due to Lazio’s financial troubles, a cut-price £8million bid from German giants Bayern Munich for striker Goran Pandev, has been accepted by the struggling Italians in a bid to ease the crippling cash-crisis the club faces on a daily basis.
Macedonian International Pandev told Gazetta dello Sport: “The negotiations are near completion, as soon as everything is decided I’ll move to Bayern. There is also interest from Valencia but the Germans have made the greatest effort.”
With the Pandev move looking like a dead-cert, Rafa has been alerted of Lucas Podolski’s position at the club, who has now dropped down the pecking-order even further as he was already behind Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose for a starting slot under manager Ottmar Hitzfeld, which recently prompted the 22-year-old sensation to publicly state that Bayern officials and himself need to sit down and seriously discuss his position at the club.
However, Rafa isn’t going to have everything go his own way, as he faces stiff competition from Werder Bremen and Tottenham, who will be looking to bolster their squads for the final push of the season.

i like podolski and have tipped him for success for a while, i really hope that he joins liverpool, he can drop off and provide some quality link up play as well as being able to score some goals and he even has to pace to keep up with torres (just about) when we break, plus he is only 22, would be a great signing in my opinion
Completely agree Rick, would be the ideal partner for Torres - can you imagine them two together!
Podolski is one of the few rumoured targets who seems to be affordable and given time could be a great signing.
i have the chance to watch the german league every weekend on my public tv and have watched podolski the last 2 - 3 years now (even in the times where he was playing for cologne not for bayern munich)
podolski is young, thats true. but in my opinion he would not be a good signing. he is SO DAMN inconsistent! not just this season but the last 3 years he was.
id say he has his good phases for about 7 to 8 matchdays. the rest is “lets hope for the best”. he has a good shot with his left foot and has decent link-up play. but overall i think he’s too weak and not even NEAR fernandos skill.
heard a rumour today that Eidur Gunjarrson is on his way to Anfield and I hear the Danish lad has a big problem with his foot

I dont think he is good enough i think rafa should start with nando and babel up front and have crouchie as a super sub. kuty and voronin are dead wood so i agree we need another quality striker but i dont think podolski is the ‘man’ bring in berbatov whatever the cost him and nando up front would be scarey!
Just loan him first and try to see how he and torres forms a partnership.. buy him in the summer
