O’Neill to block Barry move

Martin O’Neill is doing all he can to keep his prized asset at Villa Park. Gareth Barry has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool. It’s believed that Barry could be tempted to play in Europe’s top competition.
O’Neill has been working together with the owners to offer Barry a new and improved deal to keep him at Villa Park for more years to come.
“Randy shares my ambition to keep Gareth Barry,” insisted Martin, who met Lerner this week.
“I want to reward people who have done fantastically well at the football club since I have been here and probably a long time before then - people like Gareth Barry.”
“I realise top-quality footballers want to be playing top - quality football, which is the Champions League, but that’s where we want to be, too.”
