One Final Attempt To Sign Gareth Barry
Published by Daniel Watchorn on August 11, 2008
According to Spanish journalist Guillem Balague, Liverpool will make “one final attempt” to sign England international Gareth Barry, without having to sell Xabi Alonso.
Published today on his official website, Guillem Balague states, “According to some calculations within the club, Rafa Benitez has sold for a value close to £50 million; and he has spent around £28 million. That leaves something like £22 million available for further signings: without him being forced to sell Xabi.”
The bid is unlikely to be an improved offer but one that suits both Aston Villa and softens the investment worries of the clubs owners.
Balague then went on to rule out a move for Valencia forward David Silva saying, “There has been no offer for David Silva from Liverpool and there has been no approach made to either Valencia or to the player’s representatives.”
