Newcastle Res. 0 - 0 Liverpool Res. (Full-Time)
Liverpool Reserves we’re unfortunate to come away from Newcastle with just a point after a solid performance against an uninspired Newcastle outfit.
Nemeth, San Jose, Insua (pictured) and Putterill were the players who shone the most as the Reds dominated throughout the vast majority of the game.
Newcastle literally sat back and watched the Reds come at them, with Brouwer coming close on more than one occasion.
A couple of penalty shouts and numerous squandered chances later and the Reds we’re still pushing for a winner late on in the second-half but to no avail as Newcastle sat back deep in their own territory.
Andras Simon, one of three Hungarian squad members, made his debut with just 6 minutes of the 90 remaining.
Overall it was a solid performance all-round and we we’re unlucky not to win. Reserves boss Gary Ablett will surely have wanted to win this game especially after all the chances and posession we have had, but will be pleased that we outplayed Newcastle for about 80 of the 90 minutes.
Our Reserve team sit proudly at the top of the table after winning six of the previous seven games.

Absolute bollocks.. I was there and that is complete bias… Liverpool weren’t dominant throughout Newcastle had three chances that ought to have been put away same as the bin dippers who hit the bar with one of them. 0-0 is a fair reflection on a canny game… god do they feed you this crap all of the time over there? Laughed out loud when I read it…
ARE YOU SERIOUS!??!
We were all over you mate, I watched it live for entire match.
Yes you defended well and was resilliant in absorbing pressure, but we pissed all over you mate, admit it.
Any neutrals watching the game would surely agree. We were unlucky not to win and you know it lol
Quoted from official LFC.tv website:
Liverpool were left to rue a whole host of missed opportunities as they were held to a goalless draw against Newcastle United at St James’ Park.
Gary Ablett’s men dominated for much of what was an entertaining encounter in the North-East but despite wave after wave of attack they could not find the goal that would have extended their winning run to six matches.
There again I heard a report on Saturday saying Barnsley hadn’t turned up and Liverpool were all over them… now what was the score… If we’d played our full reserve team with Andy Carroll and the brilliant Kaz Lua Lua we’d have opened you up no doubt… no wonder your gonna lose that manager of yours your all deluded and brainwashed lol
Take a look at some match stats from the Barnsley game Paul.
Possession: 60% LFC
Shots: 20 LFC 7 BARNSLEY
Corners: 15 LFC 3 BARNSLEY
Speaks for itself really mate, deluded? Brainwashed?
The reserve league isn’t about playing it’s strongest team, it’s about preparing your fringe-players and some youth players for first-team action (if they are worthy).
Your second comment completely distinguished your points within your initial comment.
Am I meant to “lol” at this point?
No I didn’t think so … we lost a game we dominated and should have won (same as tonights Newcastle reserve game) but we didn’t, that’s football mate
