Mendy set to make Reds bow
Published by fiz on August 18, 2008
Liverpool defender Emmanuel Mendy will make his first appearance for his new club in the reserves game against Scottish side Inverness Caledonian Thistle tonight.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper to become Rafa Benitez’s third capture of the summer after completing a free transfer from Murcia Deportivo, signing a three-year deal in the process.
Jay Spearing, Stephan Darby and Dani Pacheco have also been named in the reserve-team squad.
Ablett told the offish site, “Mendy will play some part in the game and we have the likes of Pacheco, Spearing and Stephen Darby who will also feature.”
“It is always good to take the lads away for a few days in the pre-season and we are looking forward to the games.”
“They will be two difficult encounters against SPL opposition but I’m told they are expecting a full house tonight and on Wednesday. Both Inverness and Hamilton have started the season in good form so it will be a real test for us.”
