Megson wants Guthrie
Bolton are hoping to wrap up a permanent deal for Danny Guthrie but have yet to open up talks with Liverpool about a move.
Guthrie arrived at the Reebok in the summer on a season-long loan deal and has been one of Bolton’s best performers this campaign after fighting his way into the first-team.
The youngster has looked a class act in central midfield and although Trotters boss Gary Megson has yet to discuss a permanent move with Liverpool or the player, it has certainly crossed his mind.
The Reds have a number of top quality players battling it out for the midfield roles at Anfield and it is thought they would be willing to let him go if Bolton matched their valuation.
“We haven’t yet got to the stage where we have sat down with the player or Liverpool,” Megson revealed. “But he is doing particularly well for us. He has now got himself into a more central position where he is happier. He has got to keep that improvement going.”
