Masch Kops First Strike as Alonso Risks it

Published by Purch on March 15, 2008

Liverpool claimed 3 points as Javier Mascherano scored a brilliant first Liverpool goal. Though Liverpool failed to get the 100th goal of the season, Alonso saw his effort 15 yards in his own half fly narrowly wide as the ref blew his whistle.

Marek Matejovsky fired Reading into a shock lead just 5 minutes in with a magnificent strike which stunned the Kop but 15 minutes later Mascherano got the ball and then crashed in a brilliant strike and proceeded to celebrate with the Liverpool faithful.

Just after Half-Time Fernando Torres headed the winner, from a Steven Gerrard ball. Though chances happened and cards were shown to Stephen Hunt and Andre Bikey though maybe them two who i have highlighted should have seen red.

Then in the 93rd minute, Marcus Hahnemann came up for a late free-kick and as he scrambled back Alonso hit a strike from well inside his own half which he failed to put in and get a goal to celebrate son Jon’s birth this week. Now let’s hope that we get our 100th of the season against Man U and take 3 more points.
