Marine FC 1-0 Liverpool Reserves (Video)

Marine FC were crowned Champions of the Liverpool Senior Cup thanks to Peter Cumiskey’s late penalty.

The Liverpool Reserves weren’t performing at their best and Ablett felt that the best team won.

“Marine deserved their victory because we didn’t play well enough to win,” Ablett told offish site.

“We started the game brightly for the first 20 minutes and then after that we just didn’t play”.

Alvin McDonald,coach for the Marines, said: “It feels great to have won it. It has taken us three years to win something, but it’s great and we hope it’s the first of many.

“I’m so pleased for the chairman and everyone at the club, but especially the players who have kept going all season. This is just rewards for them.

“I thought we thoroughly deserved the win and in the second half, the lads were excellent – especially against a team with so much quality from all over the world.”
