Macca urges Gareth Barry Liverpool move

Steve McLaren has backed Gareth Barry’s wishes of playing for Liverpool. The former England manager firmly believes that playing at Europe’s top level will turn Barry into a better player.
The midfielder has expressed his desire to play in Europe’s top competitions and hope his move to the Mersey side could be finalized as soon as possible.
“It is a huge benefit. The Champions League or the UEFA Cup - if you are playing in Europe it helps,” he told the Birmingham Mail. “It fast-tracks your experience.
“I have always said it, if you can have experience of the top four, Champions League or UEFA, if you have got that experience of travelling the world preparing for games against European opposition with different tactics, that is a huge benefit to you - individually as a player and as a team.”
