3 Key Players to miss Luton clash

Published by Purch on January 5, 2008

Steven Gerrard (pictured with Xabi Alonso the last time we encountered the ‘Hatters’) is the most high profile casualty who’ll miss Sunday’s FA Cup clash at Luton. He was one of three players who picked up muscle injuries against Wigan, who we disasterously drew 1-1 with. His fellow casualties are Alvaro Arbeloa and Fabio Aurelio, the latter being a player who recently returned from a long lay off with an injury.

Under-pressure Rafael Benitez would almost certainly have used all 3 in the Luton clash. Aurelio would definitely have featured in the 16 as he is pushing wanted John Arne Riise for the starting left-back role. In Rafa’s pre-game press conference he confirmed they would miss their trip to Kenilworth Road and would fight to be fit for Middlesborough next Saturday.

Was expecting a “mixed” team this time around anyway, what with the Inter Milan clash coming up in 3 weeks and all that.

Looking forward to seeing Lucas making a name for himself in this match.

On paper it’s ‘gonna be 5-0, on the night I think we’ll scrape by up until the 80th minute and then make things more comfortable then they really were by adding a couple more late-on.

    Prediction: 4-1 LFC
