Liverpool told winger not for sale

Potential Liverpool target Stewart Downing is not for sale according to his manager, Gareth Southgate.

The 24-year-old winger, who plays on the left side of midfield, has been linked with a move to Liverpool. However, Middlesbrough have been quick to warn off any potential suitors for one of their star players.

“I keep reading it, but the sands of time are running out and there is no approach,” Gareth Southgate said.

“Clubs know we have no interest in doing any business there, so I presume that’s why they haven’t bothered.

“Obviously it would appeal to many, but he is not available. It’s very straightforward.”

    But I think 12-15 mills would lure him out of Boro.. he’s a quality English winger and still young.Hope Rafa wud bid for him in January.
