Liverpool linked with bid for Spanish midfielder
Published by SoV on August 14, 2008
Reports are suggesting that the Reds have tabled a bid for Real Mallorca’s midfielder Borja Valero.
Tottenham Hotspur are understood to be competing for the central midfielder’s signature who has now been targeted after the demise of Gareth Barry’s proposed £18m switch from Aston Villa.
Earlier in the transfer season, the player’s agent, Alexander Camacho had claimed that Liverpool were interested in signing Valero.
Caamano said, “Liverpool are interested in the boy after monitoring his progress last season.
“I hope to speak with Mallorca about this matter in the next few days”.
The Barralets sporting director Nando Pons would like to hold onto Valero, but would be willing to sell Valero “If a great offer arrives”.
Pons said: “The club needs money but we don’t want to break up the team we had last season.
“If a great offer arrives we will be forced to consider it”. he added.
