Liverpool close to sign duo
Rafa Benitez claims Liverpool are ‘very close’ to signing two new players.
After watching his side frustrated by a goalless draw at Manchester City on Sunday, Benitez fielded questions about The Reds’ need to reinvest in their squad.
The Spaniard is reported to have only limited funds with which to enter the January sales but, while he would not be drawn on his side’s prospective expenditure, he was more forthcoming on the number of players he is targeting.
“We have some players, have some targets and we will try to sign the players we need,” said Benitez.
“Maybe one, maybe two, if everyone is fit you never know. We are working hard and are very close.
“Until they actually put pen to paper we will keep working with the players we have but we are confident we can get the right players at the right price and that would be good for us.”
