Liverpool £16million target eyes Espanyol exit
Published by fiz on May 22, 2008
Albert Riera has put Liverpool on high alert after admitting that he wants a move away from Espanyol because of the treatment he received from the Espanyol fans.
Riera was targeted by fans at the final game of the season, questioning the players’ commitment to the club. He’s been linked with a move to Liverpool over the past few days.
Riera said: “I don’t want to be at a club where the supporters have no love for the players, or where it depends on whether the team qualifies for Europe or not.”
However, Former Liverpool scout Paco Herrera, who is now at Espanyol, has revealed that they will not listen to any bids lesser than £16 million.
Herrera said: “If he says he is going to go then he has more information than his club - he must know that there is an interested club who will pay the amount of money needed.”
