Kop Reserve to Make Toon Switch?

Published by Redneck on June 17, 2008

Newcastle United have slapped a £9million price-tag on James Milner’s forehead in an attempt to start a bidding war between interested clubs, Liverpool reportedly being one of them according to The Daily Mirror.

A multi-player plus cash swap deal has already been rejected by the Toon Army and Benitez is likely to return with an improved offer which could see Kop reserve Danny Guthrie making a move up North in a part-exchange deal.

Guthrie made 28 first-team appearances for Bolton Wanderers last season whilst on loan and could see a move to United as the ideal opportunity to spring-board his professional career after failing to nail down a regular starting-role under Benitez.

What, £9m for Milner ?!?! What is it with the price of English players today. Barry for 20, Milner for 9. Seriously.

Who comes up with these figures? neither are worth the asking price. It sounds to me like overenthusiastic reporters.

Money has come back into football after about a decade of relative “poorness”.

You know Derby County will recieve more money than Chelsea got for winning the title the year before last :o
