Kewell fully match fit
Published by Zac Lee Rigg on June 16, 2008
Liverpool winger Harry Kewell claims that he is fully fit and ready for 90 minutes of football ahead of Australia’s World Cup qualifier against China. Kewell captained the squad to a 3-1 victory over Qatar but was substituted late in the game. Against the already-eliminated China he’s looking for a full match.
“I felt great in the first match when we played Iraq. The second match in Dubai was a lot different. The heat was extremely difficult but we did our best to overcome that,” Kewell said.
“And against Qatar and it was really good, I knew I could’ve easily lasted 90 minutes, so I’m looking forward to 90 minutes (on Sunday).”
What fans won’t see from Kewell is another 90 minutes for Liverpool. The winger’s contract will run out in the end of June at which point he will be free to sign for any club on a Bosman. He made limited appearances last season, and did not see the pitch again after an injury suffered while away on injury duty half way through the season despite being reportedly fit.
“It’s just nice to be playing football again,” he said.
“Once you’ve been starved of something you love, your passion really drives you on. I’m just going out there and enjoying myself.”
