Keane: “The Goals Are on Their Way”

Robbie Keane has insisted to all Liverpool fans that the goals will come. Robbie Keane is yet to score for the reds but the Irishman will tonight make his competitive debut when Liverpool face Standard Liege in their Champions League qualifier.
Keane who will line-up next to new team mate Fernando Torres tonight told the offish site “I’m not bothered about not scoring - that’s something which has never concerned me and it won’t start doing so now,” he said.
“Of course it would have been nice to get my first goal in a red shirt because that’s something I’m looking forward to, but pre-season is about getting fit and making sure you’re ready for the proper stuff, so I’m not worried.”
“The proper games are what really count and that’s what tonight’s game is all about.”
“I’m sure the goals will come and if it’s not tonight then hopefully it will be in the next game, but I won’t be worrying about it. The important thing is that the team does well.”
If Liverpool progress through the qualifiers it will Keane’s first taste of Champions League football. The closest he came was the qualifiers with Inter Milan. Keane said “That was as close as I’ve ever been,” he recalls. “It’s tough when you get knocked out in the qualifiers because, like every player in Europe, you want to take part in the competition proper because the Champions League is such a special tournament”.
Keane is eager to break his goal scoring duck tonight when he puts on a red jersey in his first competitive match for the reds.
