Juve and Fiorentina to hijack Dossena bid

Liverpool’s hopes of completing a move for highly-rated Udinese right-back Andrea Dossena look like they may have been dealt a blow after Fiorentina and Juventus prepared to make bids which could mean Liverpool have to up their offer from £6m to £8m.

Several newspapers today are commenting on this development and citing that Rafa Benitez will need to be at his masterful best to complete the addition. Should Dossena snub the chance to stay in Italy, it will certainly mean the end of Steve Finnan as a Liverpool player.

No confirmation about the fees have been revealed though it is believed Juventus have offered £7.5m while Fiorentina have limped into the race by matching Liverpool’s fee of £6m. Should Dossena arrive, he will become Benitez’s 2nd defender signed this summer following the bosman transfer of Philipp Degen.
