Megson’s plea to Liverpool defender
Bolton boss Gary Megson is hoping Liverpool defender Sami Hyypia doesn’t sign a new deal at Anfield.
The Bolton chief is keen on 34-year-old Liverpool centre-back Hyypia, who is coming to the end of his contract.
The Reds have indicated they would like to give the defender a one-year extension and the Finn is tempted to stay.
Megson feels Hyypia’s experience would be a great addition to his squad if they beat the drop this season and could offer him better wages than Liverpool as a free agent.

Buy the new Jamie Carragher Autobiography here for just £8

I would be surprised if he did leave us tbh, he’s desperate for a tenth season at LFC and he doesn’t come across as one of those people who would jump ship for a few more quid.
Sitting on the bench could suit the old-geezah
He’s perfect cover for Carra and the improving Skrtel (who’s in a similar mould to Hyypia) and it would be a big loss if he did leave.
STAY FOR 1 MORE YEAR SAMI!
I still think Hyypia has at least one more season in him. He’s been outstanding for us this season. Struggling during the first 2-3 games, but has been brilliant ever since.
He still has what it takes to play at the top level. Would be great if Skrtel/Agger could learn from him.
I hope he stays on till next year, making it 10 years at the club - and leaves with the premiership title that we have all been waiting for!
