Dirk Kuyt opened the scoring after 85 minutes with a sublime strike from inside the box, closely followed by even more sensational strike from Captain Marvel Steven Gerrard to give full advantage to our boys as we travel to the San Siro for the return leg on the 11th of March.

Inter came close on some occasions to spoil our party, with Esteban Cambiasso coming close from long-range, failing to keep his hopeful shot on target.

Dirk Kuyt silenced some critics with a sweet strike after 85 minutes from a Pennant cross leaving Cesar with very little chance in making a save.

Steven Gerrard (pictured applauding the Anfield faithful afterwards) doubled our lead just minutes later with a sensational strike that bounced three times before going in off the far post to give the advantage to the merry men from Merseyside.

It was a fantastic match overall, a game we certainly deserved to win yet again, but this time we made sure of the result - with the Kop certainly playing a large part in our memorable victory.
