Has Finnan Played His Last Game?
If the rumours in the press are to be believed, Irish international Steve Finnan might be leaving Anfield in the next few weeks.
The full-back has admitted that he might have to consider leaving the club after he appears to have fallen down the pecking order at the club following the arrival of Phillip Degen.
And with Rafa preferring to deploy Arbeloa or Carragher at right-back, it’s only right that the Irish is getting a little frustrated.
Asked in a television interview if he finds himself now in a kind of limbo, Finnan said: “Limbo sounds about right, yes.
“I haven’t got a clue, to be honest with you. I haven’t played many games recently, so I honestly can’t say.
“There is a big squad there and everyone is fighting for their place, and I just have to train well and take the chance if I get it.”
As to any imminent transfer being on the cards, Finnan said: “You would have to ask the club. I have been trying to get into the team.”
“I haven’t played, but I will just wait and see and when the transfer window closes, we will know then.
“I will wait and see if I can get into the team; if not, then obviously I want to play, so we will just have to take it from there.
“[Myself and and Benitez] have spoken about it, but at this time, I don’t think I will say too much more.”
There’s been speculations linking him with a move back to Fulham.
