Ger-robbed
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has become the sixth player in the past 18 months to be the victim of burglary.
Gerrard’s wife, Alex Curran, was confronted by four burglars at the couple’s mansion last night while Gerrard played in his side’s Champions League match in Marseille.
Curran was shaken but not harmed when the incident occurred at the property in Formby, Merseyside.
A Merseyside Police spokeswoman said:”We are investigating a confrontational burglary which took place at around 9.30pm last night.
“Four men, wearing dark clothing, hoods and balaclavas, entered the property and stole items of jewellery.
“We cannot confirm the nature of the confrontation.
“The female resident, and another woman who was in the house at the time, were left shaken but uninjured.”
The spokeswoman went on to say that forensic examination of the property was taking place today, and house-to-house inquiries have begun.
Dirk Kuyt was burgled three weeks ago while on international duty, while Jerzy Dudek, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger and Peter Crouch have also been targeted by thieves.

Reds review security after Gerrard burgled
LONDON, Dec 12 (Reuters) iew the securit- Liverpool Premier League club will revy of players’ homes after captain and England midfielder Steven Gerrard became the latest squad member to be burgled while away on match duty.
Four men broke into Gerrard’s home on Tuesday evening while the player was steering his team to a vital 4-0 Champions League win at Olympique Marseille that booked the Merseyside club into the knockout stages.
His wife Alex Curran was in the house at the time.
‘We were shocked to hear the news last night after the game in Marseille,’ said a Liverpool spokesman on Wednesday. ‘Our first concerns are for the welfare of Alex, Steven and the family.
‘The club takes this extremely seriously and we will be looking at ways to provide cover for players’ houses when they are away with the club on domestic and international duties.’
Merseyside Police said they were investigating a confrontational burglary in Formby, Merseyside.
‘Officers were called to a house at about 9:30 p.m. last night following a call from a female resident that four men had broken into the house and stolen items of jewellery,’ a police spokeswoman said.
Curran and another woman, who was in the house at the time, were shaken by the incident, but were not injured.
The men, who were unarmed, wore hoods and balaclavas, the spokeswoman added. It is not clear how they broke in.
This year, the home of Liverpool’s goalkeeper Pepe Reina was burgled as he helped the club reach last season’s Champions League final.
Team mates Jerzy Dudek, Daniel Agger, Peter Crouch and Florent Sinama-Pongolle, as well as Everton’s Andy van der Meyde, were burgled last year.
Last month, striker Dirk Kuyt suffered a break-in at his luxury home in Woolton while he was on international duty with the Dutch team.
