Espanyol reject Liverpool’s £9.5m bid for Riera

Espanyol have rejected an intial bid from Liverpool for Spanish international Albert Riera. According to Sky Sports, Liverpool offered £9.5million for the want-away winger. It’s reported that Espanyol has put a £19 million price-tag on Riera.

Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Libre said, “If a club wants to sign Riera then the price will be 24million euros (£19million), and that figure will not change.”

Albert Riera has put Liverpool on high alert after admitting that he wants a move away from Espanyol because of the treatment he received from the Espanyol fans.

Riera said: “I don’t want to be at a club where the supporters have no love for the players, or where it depends on whether the team qualifies for Europe or not.”
