Dutch Euros KO for Babel

Ryan Babel has been ruled out of the European Championships after tearing ankle ligaments. The 21-year-old suffered the injury during international training.

This means plans for the Winger to play against Wales on Sunday are now to be scrapped. Marco Van Basten was set to give him a starting role in the Austrian and Switzerland tournament.

This is an unlucky loss for the orange-kitted nation as they share Group C or the so-called group of death, with Italy, France and Romania. Robin Van Persie is hoping to be fit though and would be the most natural replacement.
