Dubai still interested
Published by Zac Lee Rigg on October 12, 2008
Despite rumours linking DIC or at least Sheikh Hamdan Al-Maktoum-to a Charlton takeover, the Guardian claims the Dubai ruling family is still interested in Liverpool Football Club.
“Nothing has changed,” said a source. “The Maktoums still intend to takeover Liverpool and the possible purchase of Charlton certainly has no bearing on it.”
Having stake in both clubs would surely be contrary to the current rules of the game as a conflict of interest. However, Liverpool fans will take hope that someone will relieve them of Tom Hicks and George Gillet, who rejected a £500m bid. One wonders just how much they can hold out for.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease get rid of the Yanks, come on DIC
Sheik Hamdam Al Makthoum is the son of Sheik Mohammed. Sheik Mohammed is behind DIC, but is believed to want to buy Liverpool directly with his own funds. Sheik Hamdam runs Zabeel investments which is in negotiation with Charlton. Therefore there is no conflict of interest. The individuals and companies concerned are totally separate entities, so would not break any rules regarding club ownership.
