DIC To Lodge Fresh Takeover Bid?
Published by JMitchell on August 10, 2008
Abu Dhabi newspaper The National is reporting that DIC (Dubai International Capital) are set to lodge a new bid to take over American owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks as the war over the transfer of Gareth Barry drags on.
Benitez is said to be furious with the American owners as they rejected a 12m loan to help purchase Barry from Aston Villa. Benitez is said to be at loggerheads as he would rather not sell players to buy Barry and a bid from DIC would be welcome from Benitez, players and fans.
DIC had a 400m bid previously turned down in March, earlier this year and a source close to the Dubai owners said “Just because it is has been a quiet summer does not mean DIC have lost interest. They are happy that things have now become low key, and they are awaiting developments”.
The current owners, Gillett and Hicks are also going to have to find the funds to carry on work with Liverpool’s new proposed stadium and to pay of loans already borrowed to start work on Stanley Park so a new bid from DIC maybe more than welcome.
